Nightmare

Frequent nightmares in children and adolescents are associated with increased risk of anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Approximately 5-30% of children experience frequent nightmares, with higher rates among those with mental health disorders. Cognitive-behavioural treatments targeting nightmares, such as imagery rehearsal therapy, can be effective in reducing nightmare frequency and associated distress in youth.
