Alcohol

Alcohol use among children and adolescents is associated with increased risk of mental health problems, including depression, anxiety, and conduct disorders. Early onset of alcohol use (before age 14) is linked to higher rates of alcohol use disorders and other mental health issues in adulthood. Prevention programs targeting alcohol use in youth, as well as early intervention for those already using alcohol, are important for promoting mental health and reducing long-term risks.
