Biography

Dr. Laura Machlin is a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University in the Department of Psychology working with Dr. Katie McLaughlin. She completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology in 2022 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill under the mentorship of Dr. Margaret Sheridan. She completed her clinical internship at UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital in Pittsburgh. Dr. Machlin’s research focuses on neurodevelopmental mechanisms linking early adversity and risk for psychopathology across early childhood and adolescence. She utilizes behavioral tasks, peripheral physiology, and structural and functional neuroimaging to understand how early adversity “gets under the skin” to increase risk for psychopathology.
