Biography
My work lies in clinical epidemiology and measurement science and aims to strengthen the relevance, validity, and consistency of data generated in comparative effectiveness research and in measurement-based care.
One strand of my research focuses on the measurement of patient characteristics, particularly psychosocial and contextual factors, to improve equity, external validity, and the study of treatment-effect heterogeneity. A second strand addresses the measurement of treatment outcomes, with the aim of developing approaches grounded in patient priorities and lived experience, using valid and reliable instruments, and applied consistently across studies and care settings - especially in mental health.
Trained in sociology and psychology at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, the London School of Economics and Political Science, and University College London, I use mixed methods and participatory approaches involving experts with lived experience. My work has contributed to the development of several core outcome sets in child and youth mental health.
