Biography

Geertjan Overbeek, professor in child development at the University of Amsterdam, is one of the world's leading researchers in child and adolescent development. He examines how one’s upbringing—by parents and peers—links to developmental outcomes throughout childhood and adolescence. In 2013, Geertjan founded a youth prevention lab at the University of Amsterdam. Its mission: to increase our knowledge about how we can stimulate the development of good health, resilience and satisfying social relationships in children and adolescents worldwide.
