Biography

I am a biomedical scientist with a special interest in medical imaging. My research interests lie in the neural mechanisms underlying Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Currently I am involved in the multiple dose oxytocin (MOX) clinical trial, where we are evaluating the possible beneficial effects of oxytocin in children with ASD, on different levels (e.g. behavioural, neurological and biological). Oxytocin is a neuropeptide known as the ‘love hormone’, which plays a role in social bonding and other prosocial effects. I especially focus on the effect of oxytocin on facial identity/emotion recognition on the brain level, via fMRI and EEG.
