Biography
Dr. Penfold is a health services research and health policy expert at Kaiser Permanente Washington and Affiliate Professor in Health Systems and Population Health at the University of Washington. His work focuses on developing and testing strategies to optimize behavioral health care delivery and patient outcomes—particularly in children and adolescents. Rob is a co-investigator in the Mental Health Research Network (MHRN), an affiliation of health systems across the United States and a resource for studies on mental health conditions. He leads the MHRN’s child and adolescent scientific interest group. Rob has extensive experience conducting embedded, pragmatic randomized trials and is currently testing a mental health navigator model to increase access to mental healthcare for children aged 4-11. Rob has two sons who are seniors in secondary school and a third son in middle school. He alpine skis, a lot.
