Biography

I am a psychiatrist and researcher at the Section of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Division of Psychological Medicine and Clinical Neurosciences. In 2018, I was awarded a Post Doctoral Fellowship by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and Health and Care Research Wales (HCRW) – to refine and conduct a feasibility trial of a Web-based programme for adolescent depression. This programme was developed as part of my NIHR/HCRW Doctoral Research Fellowship (2013-2017). I have also worked on the Early Prediction of Adolescent Depression (EPAD) study, and other projects in the department. I am particularly interested in research and clinical work from child to adult life, and mental health difficulties in this key transitional period. I am dual-trained in child/adolescent and adult psychiatry. I am also interested in the role of visual and digital media in mental health, and have studied illustration and graphic design. I am a teaching lead for child and adolescent psychiatry at Cardiff University, and was recently a public engagement officer with the Royal College of Psychiatrists in Wales.
