Trafficked

Child trafficking is associated with severe mental health consequences, with high rates of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and anxiety disorders. Trafficked children in contact with mental health services experience significantly longer durations of care compared to non-trafficked peers, highlighting the complex and enduring nature of their mental health needs. Additionally, trafficked children have high rates of exposure to physical and sexual violence, with studies documenting that over half experience physical abuse and nearly half experience sexual abuse, further contributing to their mental health challenges.
