Asperger's syndrome, now part of the autism spectrum disorder (ASD) diagnosis, is characterised by difficulties in social interaction and communication, along with restricted interests and repetitive behaviours. Children with Asperger's typically have average or above-average intelligence and normal language development. Early intervention focusing on social skills training and behavioural therapy can significantly improve outcomes.
